    Substance Abuse

    Since the late 1980's, Helpline, Inc has been licensed by the Department of Children and Families, State of Florida, as a Substance Abuse Prevention service provider. Helpline currently serves as the answering service for Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon in Monroe County. Callers also get meeting information and crisis telephone counseling for individuals in recovery programs, or information to family and friends of alcoholics on Al-Anon services.

    In 2010, Helpline responded to over 800 calls for information on substance abuse issues. An additional 150 referrals were made to mental health programs related to substance abuse. Helpline serves as a member of the Monroe County Substance Abuse and mental Health Advisory Board the Department of Children and Families.
